This could be worse.

It's bound to be better than the last bar I was at, anyway - speaking of, stay away from the Gliese system, kids. They aren't very friendly there. I've had better service in the Silver Devastation; and the hypervodka was watered down. Huge disappointment.

"You've floated in a couple of times that I can remember. Last time was exceptionally weird. I actually didn't realize when you left." [Kirk shrugged a bit.]

Huh. Maybe something came up. [Jack shrugged idly in return.] Time travel can do that. [Though it wasn't too different for him. He's a jerk.]

"Yeah, can't say I'm all that fond of time travel." [Pretty sure he told the other Jack about Nero and that fuckery but he doesn't think to repeat the story to this one. You guys look so similar.]

[But. Jack won't understand why.] Really? It has its moments, but it's been pretty good to me. Usually.

"How lucky for you." [Time travel sucks, okay. People need to stay where they belong.]

[Lies. But okay, sore spot. Jack just shrugs it off.]

So we knew each other pretty well?

"Biblically, you could say." [Kirk said with a wink.] "But you were pretty decent to talk to. A damn shame you don't remember any of it."
