Well that was fun. [Note that he doesn't sound like he's been having fun at all.] Nothing like a few teenage hormones to give us all a weekend off, huh?

Did Vidal hurt you? Are you okay? I didn't see you during the flood.

He hasn't been very kind to you, has he? [Jack reached across to take his free hand, squeezing it.] I'm sorry, Armand.

He has not. It seems insane to say that Loki was the best of the lot. [He squeezed back, then impulsively set his tea aside to move to cuddle against Jack, if he'd let him.] Which is why for a while there, I thought he hated me.

[Jack wrapped his arm around Armand, pulling him close.] Who knows?

[Armand settled against Jack, as content as he could be.]

You're very comfortable.

[Jack chuckled, patting his stomach.] Is that code for lose a few pounds?

[He chuckled a little himself.] No, it's code for 'I want to be in your arms more often.'

You know, I think I can arrange, [he said, pulling Armand tighter against him.]

If only we could ignore the entire world this way. [He only shifted enough to be certain he was still comfortable.]

Doesn't hurt to try.

You're a flirt, Captain Harkness, and everyone says you're a terrible rake, but you've only ever been a gentleman with me. It makes you all the more endearing.

No one believes you can be both, I don't get why. It's not that difficult.

[He let out a little sigh, but kind of resigned.]

I didn't say you couldn't be both, but you needn't be so careful with me. You can hurt me--surprisingly easily it seems--but not offend me.

[Jack cocked his head, looking down at Armand.] What do you mean? I don't want to hurt you.

I only mean that it's easier to be clumsy with someone's feelings and hurt without meaning to do so. I think I've hurt you. I know you've hurt me, but you didn't mean it, any more than I did. [He didn't look up, just wanting to stay comfortable where he could listen to Jack's heart.]

Loving someone doesn't change that. Sadly, I think it makes it easier to do.

[He didn't answer for a short time, silent - and then he said, very slowly,] It does. I don't know what you want me to do, Armand.

If I knew exactly, I'd say... I feel like you're very cautious with me. You don't need to be.

[Jack looked away, chuckling to himself.] You sure about that?

[As close as he was, Armand didn't need to speak up, but his voice was barely audible.] I'm certain. I may be from a backward time, but I've chosen to love you. I don't mean only part of you.

[He lifted a hand up to touch Jack's face, his cheek, but he didn't look up even though his voice got stronger.]

We've made a few mistakes, both of us, but I want you to know I'll follow you anywhere you choose to lead. And even when it's time for me to come back here, I'll love you as long as I can remember you. I don't want our last memories of one another to be of misery.

[He laughs a little at that.] And with the inmates the Admiral keeps giving me, that may be a bit longer than expected.

[Jack covered the hand on his cheek, silent for a moment. He was right; and Jack wasn't usually one to hold back. Instead of answering, he leaned down, turning Armand's face until he could kiss the slighter man.]

[Armand moved just enough to keep from straining his neck, then kissed back for all that he was worth. He used to think he was good at this. Jack was better.]

[Jack's had more years to practice than anyone should. His hand found the back of Armand's neck, free arm moving to his side.]

[Armand makes a happy hum in the midst of the kiss.]

[Armand was right; Jack was holding back, and because he was worried about Armand. So he stopped holding back. Better late than never.]
