I'm starting to thing the Admiral works on a give take basis. He throws Davros aboard, but we get this almost immediately after.

It's been a while since I was a girl, I think I missed it. Everything's so bouncy and soft. Funny story, well, I guess it's a couple funny stories, but the first one's always the best. The Notrycon system's a funny little place.

Anyway, I can't decide if strip dodgeball's best played this way or if I should hold off till it's passed.

Now, that I can believe. [He took a drink of his coffee, tamping down a thought that it wasn't as good as he was used to. Jack was just as comfortable in this body as the one he was usually in.] Did we know each other before? [He paused.] Or did I ignore you, too?

[Armand rattled the spoon in his tea cup, too nervous to take a sip.] We--it was peripheral only. I knew you as a friend of Rose's, when I... [He tried to find a neutral word, and his different vocal chords betrayed him a little and crack when he spoke again.] When I knew her.

[Now a huge gulp of tea when he hoped to hide his burning cheeks.]

[Oh, no. Not from Jack. He leaned forward, face serious. For once.] I knew she was here, but I haven't heard much about her. [He paused, letting go of his cup to half reach forward, moving towards Armand's hands but stopping short.]

Were you close?

[A nod.]

We were, yes, the one from two times ago. I think there was at least one other here before her. [He wasn't as upset now about as he was when the successor is here. Without the constant reminders and his hyper-vigilant avoidance of running into her, he was recovering much more rapidly now.]

It was not a good situation. She also loved another, and I am married.

[That got a vague, rueful smile.] She has a way of pulling you in. Can't blame you for it.

Lesson learned. [Now he took another swig of tea.] You don't seem very distressed about the gender change. [In most ways, Armand wasn't either.]

What's there to be distressed about? I missed this body. [He took another drink of his own.] You don't seem particularly upset, either.

I don't know why I'm not bothered. [A small shrug.] It seems a bit of a relief not to be quite myself.

[A grin tugged across his face.] There's something wonderfully devious about being able to hide in your own skin.

[Armand giggled, which even in his normal shape, could be a bit girlish. Not it was high pitched and startled him slightly. He set the tea cup down abruptly.] And then I go and do something like that. [Sigh.]

You must tell me about that game of yours! I don't wish to play or watch, but I'm still curious why you want to do it.

It sounded fine to me. You've got different vocal chords, now, there's nothing wrong with that. [The grin turned to a smirk, and Jack chuckled a little.]

Because it'll be fun! It'll also be an excellent way to meet everyone. People have this tendency to freeze up when they're naked, it's disconcerting. But if everyone's doing it, you get comfortable.

I promise you, I'd stay frozen. [Even now, although the clothes don't fit properly, Armand was in layers of clothes. Not an inch of skin showing other than his face and hands.]

I like talking to people, and now it seems I have some spare time until assignments are made. I have seldom been without an inmate. [Another sigh.] To be honest, I don't quite know what to do with myself.

I think I could get you to loosen up. [But he smiled, and shrugged.] Maybe the break will do you some good. It'll be a nice chance to relax. [He shrugged.] Too bad the pub's been closed.

[Reaching out, Jack plucked at the sleeve of one of Armand's oversized shirts.] You should really find something that will fit.

[Armand drew back, his brows down and chin tucked against his chest.] What if I don't want to? I don't want people to get ideas.

[He held up his hand apologetically and pulled it back to his side of the table, shaking his head.] They'll only get ideas if you let them. There's nothing wrong with looking good.

[Armand frowned, sourly and shook his head with his eyes closed.] The people here are terrible gossips. I don't want any of the men, new ones or people who didn't change, to see any curves. [To emphasize his point, he deliberately slouched, putting his elbows on the table.]

You're safe enough as you are, or I wouldn't have met with you.

[Jack tilted his head to the side, thoughtful.] Are you this clamped up as a man, too?

Clamped up? [Armand bit his lip.] It hurts when people gossip, so I try to be proper. I don't want to go back to my Jeanne with a tattered reputation.

So don't listen to the gossip. [He shrugged idly.] Besides, I doubt any of this will go back with you to Jeanne. You might as well enjoy yourself while you can; not every day an opportunity like this comes along.

[The lip-biting turned into rapid blinking as Armand tried not to tear up in front of Jack.] I would know. God would know. Wrong is wrong even if it is a secret. Tis wrong for me to gallivant. If you've no vows binding you to another, then please be free. I do not censure you. I simply cannot go there myself.

[Oh. Hell. Jack reached out a hand, but stopped himself before he touched Armand, settling it palm up between them.] I'm sorry, [he said.] I didn't mean to imply you should go sleeping around. I just meant you shouldn't let the fact that you're a woman right now make you bundle up in fear of being looked at. Just treat it the same was being a man.

[Armand reached out and fleetingly touched Jack's fingers.] It isn't your fault I'm frightened. Some of the inmates like to kill women. Besides, who could I borrow clothing from that would fit? I don't want to wear a dress.

Letting them scare you will just be another way to give into them. It's like handing them some power over you, you know. [He smiled vaguely.] I'm sure we can find someone that hasn't offered up their clothes. And plenty of women here wear pants more often than dresses, I don't think you'll need to worry about that.

[Chin still down.] Thank you, Captain Harkness. You don't need to be so kind.

I don't see a reason not to.
